Ducat, a CMC Labs incubatee, is integrating its Bitcoin-backed credit system with the TRON network, creating a new route from BTC-backed credit to USDT.
Ducat’s system operates on Bitcoin Layer 1. Users can lock BTC in Taproot vaults and mint UNIT against their collateral. The Bitcoin remains on the Bitcoin network and is neither wrapped nor bridged to another blockchain. According to Ducat, UNIT can be minted with zero ongoing interest and a one-time minting fee.
With the new TRON integration, UNIT can move to TRON as wUNIT and be swapped for USDT. This allows the resulting dollar liquidity to be used across TRON’s stablecoin ecosystem while the underlying BTC remains secured on Bitcoin.
Ducat is currently in closed alpha, with participants able to earn points ahead of a planned token generation event. Early users can also provide feedback as the product continues its rollout.
