SEOUL – Ripple is continuing to expand its presence in South Korea’s financial sector. On August 18, 2026, the company announced a partnership with Jeonbuk Bank, which will use Ripple Payments for cross-border payments. According to Ripple, Jeonbuk Bank is the first regional bank in South Korea to deploy the solution.
The partnership is strategically important for Ripple. It follows recent collaborations with other major Korean financial institutions, including Kyobo Life Insurance and Kbank.
Faster Cross-Border Payments
The new partnership focuses on international payments for Jeonbuk Bank’s business customers, including import-export companies, IT startups and digital businesses.
Ripple says its payments infrastructure can enable settlement within seconds to minutes and operate around the clock. This compares with traditional international transfers, which can involve several intermediary institutions and may take considerably longer.
For businesses, faster settlement and greater transparency could make international payments more efficient.
Ripple Is Building Momentum in Korea
The Jeonbuk Bank announcement is particularly notable because it is part of a broader expansion strategy.
Ripple is working with Kyobo Life Insurance on blockchain-based settlement for tokenized government bonds. Kbank, meanwhile, is deploying institutional wallet infrastructure through Ripple Custody.
Together, these partnerships cover several areas of digital finance, including payments, tokenization, custody and wallet infrastructure.
This suggests that Ripple is positioning itself not simply as a payments company, but increasingly as a broader infrastructure provider for financial institutions.
What Does This Mean for XRP?
The development is certainly interesting for XRP investors, but there is an important distinction.
The Jeonbuk Bank announcement confirms the deployment of Ripple Payments, but it does not state that XRP will be used in every transaction. The specific payment routes and digital assets involved have not been fully disclosed.
Therefore, greater adoption of Ripple’s infrastructure does not automatically translate into higher demand for XRP.
However, if institutional use of Ripple’s ecosystem continues to expand, XRP could potentially benefit from additional use cases over the longer term.
Asia Could Become a Major Growth Market
South Korea is an important market for digital finance, and Ripple’s growing relationships with Korean financial institutions could provide a platform for further expansion across Asia.
Markets such as Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong could also become strategically important as banks and financial companies explore blockchain-based payments, tokenization and digital asset infrastructure.
For Ripple, this could represent a significant opportunity.
Could XRP Reach $10?
A price of $10 per XRP remains speculative and should not be considered a reliable forecast.
For XRP to reach such a level, considerably stronger demand and broader real-world usage would likely be required. The success of Ripple’s institutional expansion alone does not guarantee a higher XRP price.
Nevertheless, the direction of travel is noteworthy.
Ripple is increasingly working directly with established financial institutions, and South Korea is becoming an important part of that strategy.
The bigger story may therefore not be whether XRP reaches $10, but whether Ripple can turn its growing network of Asian banking partnerships into large-scale, real-world financial infrastructure.
