Vietnam is advancing its digital sovereignty with NDAChain, a national blockchain platform designed to secure sensitive data, manage digital identities, and create transparency across government and business processes. Here’s an overview of the latest developments and updates.
National Blockchain as Future Infrastructure
NDAChain is a Layer‑1 blockchain developed by the National Data Center under the National Data Association. Its goal is to provide a decentralized trust layer for government, business, and social data, covering applications from e-government and healthcare to education, logistics, and finance.
Technically, NDAChain uses a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus mechanism, enabling high transaction throughput with controlled validation. The network can handle up to 3,600 transactions per second with a latency of about 0.5 seconds.
Decentralized Identities: NDA DID
A core feature is NDA DID, the decentralized identity system. Citizens can control and selectively share their digital identities. Integration with existing identity systems such as VNeID, banking, e-commerce, and public services enhances usability.
Using Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP), identity information can be verified without revealing personal data. Biometric verification, QR codes, and NFC support secure, modern identity management.
NDATrace: Supply Chain Transparency
NDATrace enables full traceability of products. Each product receives a unique identifier stored on the blockchain, making the complete lifecycle – from production to logistics to sale – fully auditable.
This increases consumer safety and business process reliability, especially for international supply chains.
Security and Privacy
NDAChain does not store sensitive data directly on the blockchain. Instead, encrypted states and verifiable credentials (VC) are used. Users maintain full control over their data and decide what information to share. The combination of PoA and ZKP ensures that data is both secure and verifiable.
Rollout and Future Plans
Deployment follows three phases: pilot, regional expansion, and nationwide rollout. By the end of 2025, NDAChain is expected to be fully integrated. At the same time, Layer-2 applications and startups will be supported, covering identity wallets, traceability solutions, and other blockchain innovations.
Governance and Partner Network
Currently, 49 validator nodes operate the blockchain, run by public institutions and private companies including SunGroup, Zalo, Masan, MISA, Sovico, and VNVC. This public-private collaboration ensures a robust, trustworthy, and innovation-friendly platform.
Compliance with international standards such as W3C DID, GS1, and GDPR ensures interoperability and potential global adoption.
Conclusion
NDAChain is more than a technological experiment. It forms the backbone for digital sovereignty, secure identities, and transparent supply chains in Vietnam. Its open architecture provides space for innovation and new business models, making it a project to watch for future blockchain applications in the country.
